Hi guys, welcome to my first blog post. I wanted to add a little bit more value and get some of my thoughts and ideas out; so why not a blog??
If you've been following along for a while, you will know a bit about me, but otherwise...

Hi, I'm Courtney. I have two beautiful kiddos, Seth who is nearly 10 and Violet (of course) who is nearly 8.
I started a business back in 2016 when Vi was only 1 and Seth 3. It started out as just about anything I could create - dream catchers, flower crowns, upcycling old materials etc.
At the time my partner Kyle was a FIFO miner and I spent A LOT of time on my own. I was battling a lot of health issues and mental health issues that literally just left me feeling like shi*. I have always been creative; writing poetry and creating, and my background in childcare used to be an outlet for these things. As a stay at home, young mum (I had Seth the day after I turned 20) I did the only thing I knew how to and started using my hands and mind to create beautiful things.
The candles came about 6 months into the business and I changed the name to Wild Violet Handmade. I was so happy to make any sales - that meant I could put the money back in and keep sharing and creating. I had always been 'candle crazy' and instantly felt calmer having them lit, so it was the perfect combination for me.
I have always advocated for mental health, and making sure your cup was also being filled. I wanted to make this space a place where mothers, women - anyone really - could realise the importance of looking after your own mental health, spirituality and taking the time to check in.
In 2019, I opened a beautiful 35m2 shop in Beenleigh 300m from my kids' school. I invited many handmade businesses to stock their beautiful products and created a community of creators who just loved lighting other people up. Along came Covid 6 months later, and I didn't really see any other option but to move everything home. Home schooling 2 kids, also working within my husband's business, it all became too hard. During that time, as many of you also would have experienced, I began to lose a little bit of who I was.

My wonderful husband Kyle, along with a few helpers brought my shop dream back to life by building the beautiful 9m2 'She Shed' in our front yard for me to use as a display room, to have visitors, share cups of tea and chats, card readings and ponder life with my customers and friends.
I have met so many wonderful people on this journey. I have been supported by complete strangers and lifted to my highest self by the kindest of souls.
I am so grateful to still be creating nearly 7 years later.
I love bringing you intentional candles made to fill your heart, space and life with the power of healing candle light. I call it a journey because healing never ends. My journey out of a very dark place continues and has been possible in very large part by you.
And for that, I thank you so much.

Look forward to some more ramblings from me!
Lots of love and light,
