Candle Care

It's not a science but there is a way to burn your candles safely to ensure you get the most out of them.
before lighting make sure your wick is trimmed to 5-7mm.  This will ensure the flame is a safe height, the jar wont get too hot and will eliminate any soot around the rim.
On your first burn make sure you leave it lit long enough that melt pool reaches the edges of the candle to prevent tunneling (which basically means mountains of wax left on the sides wasted)
If you have a crystal candle, it is best to remove the crystal before it sinks into the wax.  The reason for this is that in some cases it causes the wax to rise and the wicks will not stay lit.  If it does sink in don't stress.  You may need to remove the crystal.  I do this by gently scooping it out with a spoon.
Every time after this ensure you trim your wicks to 5-7mm long for the same reasons listed above.
You should only burn your candle for 4 hours at a time or until the melt pool reaches the edges in large candles.  Always stop burning the candle when there is about 1-2cm of wax left in the bottom for large sizes and about 1 cm left for smaller sizes.  Burning all the way to the bottom can in some cases cause the vessels to crack (which none of us want)
After burning your delicious candle to its end you can use hot water to remove the left over wax (don't tip it down the sink), wipe her out and you have a new pretty trinket dish.
